In a local magazine Tito la Rosa saind the following about his search: “Well, I was raised as a sikuri, we sikuris play walking, we play going forward and backwards, sometimes we move better forward when going backwards. Yes, I had bad times, there are always doubts, but we persisted and went on. And as we did this we felt that this was the right way to go. Through this way we had the help of sacred plants as the Ayahuaska that somehow shaped our singing and allowed us to traverse roads that you can only find if you love mistery. The plant told me that I had to empty myself, and this is not an easy task, you have fears. But I listened, I had to let go everything I had learned and started to make the music that each and every instrument made me do. Tuning doesn´t exist with this instruments, each one has it´s own universe, but at the same time they are all connected through a musical web. It wasn´t easy, but that´s the fascinating and beautiful task we had had for more than 10 years. (Peripheria, June 2005). |
